Japan EARTHQUAKE - Urgent Request for Prayer
The news broadcasts from Japan clearly reveal the horrific destruction; the devastation caused by the tsunami with its towering waves, the fires, collapsed buildings, injuries and loss of lives. Japan is facing a crisis of immense magnitude.
As the rest of the world looks on, many feel helpless not knowing what they can do. As believers in Jesus Christ our first and important response is that we can pray!
FEBC Japan, for many years a beacon of God’s love and truth, is bringing hope and comfort to the people of Japan.
We have received messages from Keiko Yoshizaki, the FEBC Japan Director. Praise God that at this time, staff of FEBC Japan reports no injuries, although several of them have been stranded.
Keiko writes: “Thank you so much for your concern and prayer! This is the largest earthquake we’ve ever experienced. Victims and damages are just incredible. My staff is all safe, for which I thank God. I appreciate your continuous prayers, as aftershocks are coming over and over! Ordinary phones and cell phones are not working well because everyone is trying to reach each other. Because of danger of Fukushima atomic power station, government made formal alarm to the people to take refuge, who live within 20 km. The land on seaside has sunk 60 cm, therefore, water will stay there quite a while. All the cities on the seaside were totally ruined. One whole city was in fire and it's still smoking now. Aftershock has been noticed over and over.
In the midst of this the call is for prayer!
The Japanese people are one of the largest "least-reached" people groups in the world. Of the 127 million who live in this country, less than 1% are followers of Jesus.
It is at times like this, that FEBC can be a voice of hope and a light in the darkness.
God has given us the means to speak to people in times of deep need, and we know that hope and comfort can be found in our Lord Jesus Christ.
As the devastation from this violent earthquake and tsunami continue to unfold, please join with believers around the world in praying for this tragic situation?
Here are a few things you start with in prayer:
• Thank God for protecting FEBC’s staff in Japan.
• Ask God to open the hearts of millions of Japanese to their need for his love, hope and salvation.
• Pray that God will use FEBC's broadcasts to comfort and encourage many during this time of suffering. Many forms of media will be inaccessible, and many will turn to radio!
• Pray for special programming that FEBC-Japan staff will prepare to help and encourage those who are afflicted.
