Typhoons wreak havoc - but a radio message gives hope
At present much of Thailand (58 out of 77 provinces) is affected by floods. The water in many places has covered towns and cities; and is in danger of inundating Bangkok
However, in the midst of such devastation FEBC broadcasts are going out to give encouragement and support; and to provide practical help and information. As a result the staff recently received this phone call -
"I am a long-time listener and this is my first time contacting FEBC at the This Life Has an Answer program. My house is flooded and I am on the 2nd floor.I have no electricity or water, but I have a radio that uses batteries!!. How wonderful. This is my friend to keep me from loneliness. When I listened to your program today, I thought to ask for the booklet so that I can be further encouraged."
The written material has been sent but no-ones knows when post will reach listeners!
Philippines
While the typhoon that hit the Philippines knocked down power and communication lines, generator power ensured for recording and broadcasting until repairs were made. The antennae tower withstood the winds and the staff were all keep safe.
Please pray
The floods and winds have caused immense damage across much of Southern Asia, and not much of this is being reported here. Pray for the subsiding of the flood waters. Pray for the health and well-being of the people caught in desperate situations. Pray for the FEBC staff as they bring broadcasts to the people in the midst of their struggles. Pray that in the midst of these dark times the light of God's love and grace would be seen and known.
