Keep Praying - Japan Disaster Update

It is 5 months since Japan's most powerful earthquake triggering a massive tsunami leaving over 15,000 dead and many more thousand missing. And while the time has passed the needs and heartache remain.
FEBC Japan continues to minister into this devastation bringing the hope of Christ and our support and prayers are still greatly valued.
Allow me to bring an update from Keiko, our FEBC Japan Director
Dear All,
On behalf of my Board and staff, victims and churches in the disaster area, I want to express our deepest appreciation to those who have prayed and sent love gifts designated to suffering people and to the  church following the  3.11 disaster. It was sent to Tohoku Help (100 churches organized this net-work in disaster area Tohoku), Japan. On Wednesday,July 20, 2011, Secretary of Tohoku Help, Rev. Kawakami living in Sendai, visited our office to express their thanks to FEBC. So I convey their appreciation to you all. He is the one who has been visiting village people led by the district leader trying to reach their need from the beginning. He has also been visiting shelters, staying over night with the victims trying to be with them close. He said, the number of suicide has gone down right after the disaster, however, rapidly gone up after May. The sixth months of X-day, September 11, things may turn worse and they covet your special prayer. Those parents who could not protect their children, those children who could not save their old parents, those children who lost their parents are grieving so deep. "Nuclear divorce" is a new word after Fukushima problem. Because fathers had to stay with the company to earn bread, while mothers had to refuge with children, their hearts are split with various thoughts or drifted apart.
Many people asked me if we hear from the victims. The next letter explains why they cannot write us.

Today, I want to write about the devastated disaster of 3.11 earthquake and tsunami. Living in 8km close from nuclear power plant, with my husband, I sought refuge to our friend's home for the first night. Then 8 nights at sister-in-law's home. Another over night at friend's home, then another night at our former pastor's home all in
Yokohama area. Then two nights at school gymnasium back in Fukushima. Being bullied by my sister-in-law, no place for our dog or car, there was no place that we could find peaceful place for sleep. Finally I have become panicked from great anxiety and screamed in my heart, "Dear God! Dear God!" Next night we stayed at an inn free of charge. Finally we found no place where we could go, therefore, my husband called a pastor of a Baptist church which we attended twice before,
and explained him our problem. He was so kind to let us stay at their church for one month. He showed us God's love. There I attended worship service twice. The Lord has spoken to me through Matthew 6:25-34. "Do not worry about tomorrow. Live today in Christ!" It's said it may take more than 30 years for us to be able to go home, or more years! We still have 20 mores years of loan payment. My husband is 52-year-old. We have to give up this house, his job, everything. Above all, radioactive fallout is very sever. Then for two months till now at National Hostel in Fukushima. There are 54 nuclear power plants in our country. It's too sad in this
bombed country. We never have been suspicious about security of nuclear power plant, for we trusted what government said. The fact that I am experiencing is too huge and difficult to tackle with. I just don't know how to, and what to pray to God. I am powerless and so weak. How and what would you pray for me, Ms. Keiko?

Mr. Y. Makabe, 21-year-old, non-believer, who's house was washed away in Miyagi, now in Chiba pref.
Greetings! This is my first letter to you. Thank you so much for the Digest CD of your program! I started to enjoy listening to your broadcast again. Please introduce
me a church near my apartment. The reason I wanted to seek for God is that our house was washed away by 3.11 tsunami, and my family were all split apart living here and there. My father lost his job, has no money to rent a house and he asked me to be his guarantor to borrow money. With my very low salary, I am having difficulty to keep my own life. I recalled about FEBC that I used to listen before, so I came back to you. I have never attended church yet. My factory operates on three shifts and Sunday seldom is off. Would Jesus Christ save even such as me? I will keep listening to your program with great expectation and joy.
...........
As you can see the needs are still great - so please continue to pray for the people of Japan and pray for Keiko and her staff in FEBC Japan as they share the hope of Christ.
